Introduction

The Main Challenge
Once the main roof leak was safely repaired by a specialized roofing contractor, our mission at Golden Deco was to completely restore the bedroom ceiling to its original condition. The challenge with water-damaged plaster is preventing future cracking along the seam lines. As shown in our preparation photos, simply slapping plaster over the hole isn’t enough; it required cutting back the ruined plasterboard to clean edges and establishing a structurally reinforced base.
The Golden Deco Solution
We began by cutting away and removing all the loose, compromised material. To bridge the gap and prevent future movement, we installed high-quality fresh plaster and meticulously layered professional-grade plastering compounds. A crucial step in this process was applying heavy-duty fiber joint mesh tape over the seam lines to absorb structural shifting. After the compound fully cured, we sanded the area to a perfectly flush, seamless finish and coated it using premium, anti-mould Taubmans ceiling paint, offering alternative product options like Dulux or Haymes to perfectly color-match the rest of the room.
The Final Result
Completed efficiently within just 1 day, the bedroom ceiling looks brand-new. The final surface is completely gym-smooth, uniform, and absolutely free from any traces of historical water damage.
