Introduction

We recently undertook a targeted interior painting and plastering project for a beautiful residential property in Caroline Springs. The core scope involved restoring a freshly repaired plaster section on the living room ceiling, along with full decorative repaints for the kitchen and open living area ceilings.
The Main Challenge
Working with brand-new, raw plasterboard presents a major technical challenge. Raw plaster is incredibly porous and drinks up moisture instantly; if you paint directly over it, the finish will turn out patchy and dull. Additionally, the living room featured intricate, ornate rose cornices that required precise, steady-hand cutting-in to ensure no paint blurred the historical details, all while protecting the home’s furniture from falling overhead dust.

Protection was our absolute priority. We completely wrapped the homeowners’ furniture in heavy-duty protective plastic sheets and lined the floors. To solve the porous plaster challenge, we applied a premium, high-solid undercoat primer specifically formulated to seal fresh plasterboard and ensure perfect topcoat durability. For the final finish, we applied two comprehensive coats of premium flat ceiling paint. While we proudly featured Dulux lines for this specific project, we consistently offer exceptional, low-VOC finishes from trusted alternate brands like Taubmans and Haymes to fit different client specifications.
