Introduction
Wooden floors are the centerpiece of a home’s interior elegance, but constant foot traffic eventually dulls their spirit. Following our successful interior painting and exterior painting transformations for this beautiful Greenvale home, our client, Claude Borstner, hired us for the final stage of his property makeover: restoring the 15-to-20-year-old living room timber floorboard system.
The Main Challenge
Nearly two decades of heavy family life had left the natural timber floors covered in deep scratches, chair scuffs, and a faded, yellowed outdated finish. To bring back the timber’s luxury grain, we faced a precise challenge. We had to perform deep mechanical drum sanding to strip away the old damaged coating evenly, without gouging the wood. Furthermore, timber floor refinishing requires an absolute dust-free environment; even a single tiny grain of sawdust trapped under the liquid topcoat would ruin the entire glossy finish.
The Golden Deco Solution
We kicked off this 3-day floor restoration with a rigorous multi-stage sanding process, utilizing coarse to fine sandpapers to bare the wood back to its raw, healthy layer. We then used heavy-duty industrial vacuums to clear every trace of micro-dust from the room. Next, we meticulously applied a rich, custom-selected premium timber stain coat to match the client’s modern interior aesthetic. While premium Dulux wood-care lines were chosen for this specific project, we consistently offer equal top-tier timber care finishes from trusted brands like Taubmans and Haymes. To seal and secure the color, we applied the first protective clear polyurethane coat on day two, followed by a second heavy-duty, scratch-resistant clear topcoat 8 hours later.
The Final Result
Completed seamlessly over 3 days, the timber floor transformation was breathtaking. The floorboards went from a scratched, dated amber yellow to a deep, rich, and mirror-smooth contemporary gloss finish that beautifully accentuates the natural timber veins. The dual-layer clear shield ensures the surface is fully protected against future scratches and moisture. Our client was absolutely thrilled to see his entire home—walls, exterior, and floors—completely revitalized to a luxury standard by the Golden Deco team.
